Qualifications:
 
* B.A.
 
* Two years’ experience working in some kind of teaching or secondary school related capacity
 
* Library experience a plus, but not necessary
 
* Recent experience in academic research, interest in learning more
 
* Facility with computing technology
 

 
Basic Job Description:
 

 
The Afternoon/After-School Library Media Specialist will oversee the smooth operation of the library from 2:00pm – 6:00pm, weekdays, maintaining a welcoming and productive atmosphere. He or she will assist middle and high school students for the last hour of school and after school-helping them find appropriate tools and resources for their assignments and interests; guiding them to focus on homework or enjoy reading for pleasure; and tutoring students when possible and necessary. The afternoon/After-School Library Media Specialist will aid the Pacific Ridge School’s Library Media Specialist in keeping the library organized and well-maintained: books re-shelved, displays updated, laptops checked out and returned carefully as needed, students required to leave the place better than they find it, etc. There will also be room for creative input with the school Library Media Specialist on how the library media center is developed as the school grows and use increases.
