On-Ramp Wireless (ORW) is pioneering a new approach to automating the Smart Grid for our utility and energy customers. As we expand our markets and our solution offerings, we are looking for another dynamic communications professional for the product management team. An ORW Technical Writer is responsible for development and production of high-quality technical communications and documentation such as white papers, product specifications, user’s guides, installation guides, training materials and product collateral in both print and eMedia layout. As we expand the technical communications team, we are looking for individuals capable of design, development, quality assurance, and publishing of product information delivered to customers and partners. Key responsibilities include:

• Works with the marketing, product, engineering, and operations teams to identify documentation and training needs.
• Develops and gains stakeholder consensus on documentation plans for product releases, marketing campaigns, and customer engagements.
• Performs audience and task analysis, outline development, content specification, content development, review facilitation, and final publishing of documentation projects.
• Performs desktop publishing services and establishes standards for technical documentation.
• Utilizes graphics/image software to develop product diagrams, graphs and charts from sketches provided by technical authors.
• Manages documentation delivery to plan; addresses delivery, quality or schedule issues directly with project team members, or as appropriate, with management escalation.
• Uses document control system to manage documentation release and distribution.
• Drives team initiatives to improve the group’s publishing processes and delivery quality.

Requirements:
• Demonstrated hands-on experience creating and publishing technical and marketing documentation.
• Demonstrated understanding of wireless technology and semiconductor technical documentation requirements.
• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and consistency across related publications.
• Very strong editor.
• Demonstrated hands-on design and layout proficiency.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and with dynamic product priorities.
• Proficiency with tools such as MS Office suite, Adobe software suite, Visio, or other graphics/image software.
• Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Journalism or a related discipline and 5-10 years experience in technical writing, editing and desktop publishing/graphic design.
• Experience generating technical/marketing documentation and training materials for utility/energy industries a plus.
• Experience with website development software and functionality a plus.
