Interaction Designer, User Experience (Temporary) – 02990 (San Diego, CA)

  • This position is for a temporary engagement through our staffing partner WorkforceLogic.  The anticipated duration of this engagement is 12 months. The duration of the assignment cannot exceed 12 months.

     

    The Interaction Designer will be devoted to the development and ownership of the user experience for the party application for PSN on VITA.  This person will work with the San Diego On-line Technology Team and also collaborate with our colleagues in Tokyo.  We are developing cutting edge technology for the PlayStation platform and we are looking for a talented person to help develop and shape the user experience for the party application.

    Responsibilities:

    • Designing core User Interface (UI) features for the party application.
    • Work with the Sony Corporate Design center to get approval for design.
    • Maintain the Visual Flow document for the party application UI.
    • Assist in layout, artwork for UI related features.
    • Work with engineering team to implement desired UI.
    • Work with usability team to gather feedback on implementation and improve the party application in subsequent releases.
    • Work with game teams to help them understand the user experience for party as it relates to their game.

    • Must have at least 4 years of Interaction Design or equivalent experience designing software applications for mobile applications or console development (iPhone, Android, tablet, PS3, XBox based applications).

    • Must be able to quickly understand difficult problems and then come up with clean, simple design solutions.

    • Ability to efficiently create clear design specifications in Photoshop, Visio and HTML or equivalent tools.

    • Must be able to take charge of design discussions and run meetings related to UI.

    • Must be patient, flexible and thoughtful when working with various groups

    • Superb communication and interpersonal skills. 

    • Good attention to details and ability to meet deadlines.

    • A high degree of self-motivation and drive.

    • Ability to work in fast paced fluid and dynamic environment.

    • Experience working on games and console development.

    • Familiarity with PlayStation Network and online gaming.

    • Skilled in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; and other comparable tools.

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Factors or HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Product Design, or equivalent.

    • Portfolio of recent work available for review; preferably online.
