Manager Quality Assurance – 02974 (San Diego, CA)

  • The Global First Party Quality Assurance department provides quality assurance testing and support for games and/or projects produced by SCEA internal Product Development teams. The role of the Quality Manager is to support the GFPQA organization in improving and maintaining the highest standards of operational performance and excellence by identifying and eliminating waste, ensuring effectiveness, increasing efficiency and nurturing a continuous improvement culture.  This role will also be responsible for generating reports and documentation, information tracking, internal and external department communication, assigning tasks, and travel.

     

    Overall, the position of Quality Manager within GFPQA-America is expected to partner with the organization in managing the following functions:

     

              Development and enhancement of individual and team KPIs

              Assessments of teams based on metrics

              Maintenance and maturity of the QA knowledge base ensuring all lessons learned are correctly documented and implemented by the relevant team

              Liaison with consumer services, OLS, development studios and active monitoring of blogs, social networks, YouTube, forums etc. to identify issues and defects found in production by consumers

              Evaluation of quality ratings to assist with release decisions and escalation

              Identification and global sharing of standards and QA best/good practises

              Research and evaluation of industry standards and best/good practises (vendors, competitors); nurturing and developing strong network of external contacts

              Development of improvement proposals and change management strategies

              Project team member and advisor on regional and global test strategy improvement projects

              Analysis of SLE and post-mortem meetings

    • Skills required to strategically plan and implement various quality goals and standards during the test lifecycle through the use of metrics, risk assessment, project planning, problem resolution and negotiation
    • Ability to work with process stakeholders and SME’s to manage the design, documentation and implementation of Quality Assurance processes
    • Ability to diagnose process improvement opportunities and develop solutions using principles of process excellence and related tools

    Financial Management

    • Ability to apply ROI methodology to the GFPQA operations
    • Adheres to corporate policies and standards aimed at minimizing costs
    • Ability to monitor activities and costs related to the overall utilization of resources required to meet operational requirements

    Required Experience / Education:

    • At least 5 years of leadership experience within Quality Assurance or equivalent 
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

    Preferred Experience / Education:

    • ISEB Advanced Test Manager or equivalent preferred
    • Track record of instigating and driving continuous improvement
    • Preferred to have an advanced degree (i.e., MBA, MA, MS)
