Position Title: Program Director I – Child Care/Camp

Basic Assignments:
Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Child Care/Camp Program Director is responsible for overseeing multiple licensed/grant before and after school programs, adhering to State Licensing Standards and compliance with the funding terms and conditions for grants from the State Dept of Education, and for the supervision of Camp and Family Programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, including 15 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field, 3 of which must be units of Administration of Child Care Programs. BA in Early Childhood Education is highly desirable. Must have minimum of two years of experience with direct supervision, preferably three to five years of experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Proven skill level in organization, planning and implementation of administrative procedures and fiscal management, including the budget process.
- Knowledge of and expertise in licensed childcare programs.
- Knowledge of and expertise in camp and family programs.
- Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating and motivating staff and volunteers.
- Computer experience required, including, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanor.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Current Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
- This position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
Major Functions:
- Directly responsible for the development and operation of the licensed and grant before and after school childcare program, as well as summer camp, holiday camps and family programs.
- Give leadership to all aspects of program operations including staff development, training, planning, fiscal management, program administration, and human resource management.
- Responsible for developing, monitoring and adhering to departmental budgets.
- Ensure the State grant licensing requirements are maintained at all childcare sites.
- Ensure that all ACA Camp standards are adhered to.
- Develop evaluation system for on-going feedback from participants, staff and administration.
- Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and participants and serve on Branch Program and other committees as needed.
- Follow all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines.
- Actively participate in the Annual Support fundraising campaign.
- Plan, conduct and document staff meetings, focusing on customer service, safety, and established policies and procedures.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
