    JOB SUMMARY
    GIA is seeking a Senior PeopleSoft System Administrator to join our IT team at our World Headquarters in Carlsbad, California. They will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of GIA’s primarily PeopleSoft ERP and Oracle-based database systems’ processes. Primary duty is to assess, in coordination with management of each department, PeopleSoft ERP and Database System needs; to design and develop new processes and procedures, or modifications to existing processes and procedures, to meet these needs; and to coordinate with and provide direction to members of the Information Technology department to implement and ensure the proper functionality of the system throughout GIA.

    Responsibilities:
    Provides administrative and support activities in the areas of PeopleSoft middle tier and Oracle database on Linux and Windows operating systems. Installs and configures upgrades and applies patches for licensed PeopleSoft and non-PeopleSoft modules at GIA, which includes, but is not limited to, PeopleSoft Portal, PeopleSoft HRMS, PeopleSoft Payroll, PeopleSoft Student Administration, PeopleSoft Finance, PeopleSoft CRM, Open Text TEAMS – DAM, EOSi’s Library Catalog Management.

    Provides support on production, development, and testing environments, which includes, but is not limited to, creating and managing database instances, creating and managing users, granting privileges, establishing and following backup and recovery procedures, monitoring systems, maintaining data integrity constraints, data import/export, monitoring lock contention, setting up data replication procedures, and tuning databases.

    Installs, configures, and sets up tools for monitoring application, database, and system performance.

    Installs, upgrades, configures and provides support for PeopleSoft and other ERP Modules licensed at GIA including HRMS, Payroll, Student Administration, CRM Marketing, etc.

    Creates and maintains operating system scripts for database and application maintenance.

    Provides PeopleSoft and database administration support function for databases at Carlsbad, New York, and other GIA campuses.

    Provides support on database administration function for Web development projects.

    Establishes and adheres to service level policies, and offers solutions and suggestions for required performance and availability.

    Monitors log(s), activity, and resource utilization of production environment.

    Works with application programmers to insure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations.

    Acts as liaison between application programmers and DBMS vendor to report and resolve problems.

    Provides after hours on-call support for critical database issues.

    Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure.

    Requirements:
    Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B. S.) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field from a four-year college or university; and three to six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Ability to work independently, to use good judgment and exercise discretion on matters of importance to the general business operations of GIA.

    Ability to perform several tasks within one day, to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines with the appropriate attention to detail.

    Current knowledge of best practices related to PeopleSoft ERP applications database administrative activities.

    Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, development and monitoring tools on Linux, windows, and UNIX operating system.

    Understanding and working knowledge of web technology is desirable.
