Hammer Prep is looking to hire two academic tutors through June of 2012. Part-time tutors start at $25+ per hour. Hourly pay will depend on experience level and qualifying test results. All tutoring is one-to-one and takes place at our office in Sorrento Valley. No driving! Tutors set their own schedules, but most students prefer to meet between 3p and 9p M-F and on weekends.

What we’re looking for in a candidate:

• Ability to tutor through high school Calculus and/or AP level Biology and Chemistry. If you can tutor history or Spanish, all the better, but you must demonstrate mastery in math or science to be considered.
• Strong educational background. We prefer at least a bachelor’s degree, but we will consider exceptional candidates currently enrolled in college.
• Stellar academic history with GPA and test scores to prove it.
• Passion for coaching.
• Commitment to doing what it takes to help your students excel.
• Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends.
• Minimum commitment through June of 2012.

Must I have prior tutoring experience?
No, but tutoring or coaching experience is helpful. If you have the right personality and high test scores, we can help you develop into a great tutor.

Is this job part-time or full-time?
That’s sort of up to you, but we do ask for a serious commitment (at least 10 hours per week). For many of our tutors, it’s their profession.

Can I set my own schedule?
Tutors set their schedules directly with their students. However, most students prefer to meet weekdays between 3p and 8p anytime on Saturday and Sunday.
